In honor of the 50th anniversary of famed jewelry designer Kenneth Jay Lane, Gilt.com is hosting a sale featuring some of the designer’s top picks from over his career. There are also autographed copies of his book Faking It for sale. Considering that Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry has adorned the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Madonna you can expect some serious showstoppers.
The designer shared with us some of his top picks from the sale and the stories behind them, including that one of the necklaces was worn by Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” which is just about as major as it gets.

"Audrey Hepburn wore this in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,'" Jay Lane shared of his showstopping crystal cutout floral and faux pearl multi-strand necklace. $169 via Gilt / Originally $500.

“The first big earrings that I made in metal and crystals in 1962” Jay Lane shared of his clear crystal cutout geometric drop earrings, that look just as modern today. $69 via Gilt / Originally $162.

"Better to see you with and be seen with," Jay Lane says of his double leopard magnifying glass pendant. Panthers and lions have been a signature for the jewelry designer throughout his career. $79 via Gilt / Originally $200.

“These sold for $211,000 at Sotheby’s at Jackie O’s auction” Jay Lane shared of his crystal rectangle and faux multi-strand necklace. $69 via Gilt / Originally $150.
