rolex_image.902271A well dressed thief walked into Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue in New York City in the afternoon around 3 p.m. this past Friday, started chatting with an employee, and then took two necklaces from the counter.
With that single grab the thief walked away with a staggering $98,000 of jewelry, according to the police.
The brazen theft was captured on a surveillance video. A Tiffany’s employee is seen placing two diamond necklaces on top of a black velvet cloth on a display case, as the potential buyer paces in front.
Seconds later, the man swipes both necklaces, and just walks out the revolving front doors.
Interestingly, there have been a string of high profile jewelry thefts in recent weeks. Two major thefts were reported at the Cannes Film Festival, including $1 million worth of jewelry that was stolen from Chopard.
