November is officially upon us, which means temperatures are going to start plummeting at a fairly regular rate as we approach the holidays and the new year. Up until now, we’ve been getting by just fine with super-light blazers and thin sweaters, but there’s no denying it’s just about time to break out the big guns: The winter coat.

A stylish winter coat can be a life-saver in cold weather, not only because it keeps you warm, but also because it provides a one-piece fashion solution that you can throw over any ensemble (even pajamas) and look like a million bucks. So this season, instead of thinking of snapping up a plain coat that will go with everything, think of snapping up a show-stopping piece that will make up for simple jeans and a tee any day of the week.

From cozy puffers to structured military-inspired overcoats, this season’s offerings are as bountiful as they are on-trend. So while you may not be ready to fully succomb to the season’s impending chill, why not start planning ahead with our guide to six essential styles to keep you warm and looking cool all winter long.

  1. Great post! I would love to see some short puffer jackets – I’m currently on the prowl for one.

  2. Norma Fay says:

It’s so important to get a good Winter Coat. I find the perfect jacket at Burlington Coat Factory. It was about $60 less than I had seen it for anywhere else and it is perfect for the cold weather we have been having.

  3. Cozy puffers are indeed in style right now! They’re both attractive and practical, which makes for a great combination. Canada Goose Women’s Solaris Parka is definitely a coat that incorporates that combination – with its classic quilted parka design, this trendy coat will keep you warm all winter long!
