Netflix has been #winning for a while now: The network has more than proven they can create an addictive series or two (see: “Orange Is The New Black” and “House of Cards”), they can revive a fan fave (“Arrested Development”) and nab major stars for each project (the latest: “Grace and Frankie” stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.)

Now, everyone’s favorite ’90s It-girl  Winona Ryder has been announced as the next star to join the illustrious lineup. The 43-year-old was cast in a currently-untitled eight-episode thriller— previously called “Montauk”—that’s set in the 1980s, which will track the mysterious disappearance of a 2-year-old boy in the Long Island beach town.

According to Variety, “Family, friends and cops try to uncover the truth about his disappearance, which ends up involving top-secret government experiments, supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.”

“Family, friends and cops try to uncover the truth about his disappearance, which ends up involving top-secret government experiments, supernatural forces and one very strange little girl,” Variety wrote, “Ryder will play Joyce, the working-class mother of the missing boy. She summons a strength she never she had before, while rescuing her son from terrifying forces.”

The show will mark Ryder’s first casting as a series regular, and David Harbour ( “State of Affairs” and “The Newsroom”) has been cast as the town’s chief of police.

The series will be written and directed by twin brothers Matt and Ross Duffer (“Wayward Pines”) and is set to debut in 2016.
