Fashion Week is a marathon, not a sprint, so despite my aching feet and the non-stop schedule, I soldier on! The last two days have been a bit of a blur thank goodness I have these photos to look back on! But it’s been a privilege to experience all of the craziness first hand.
Check out my photos from the second day of shows, and as an added bonus, watch the video I took during the finale at Jason Wu below! (You can spot Karlie from a mile away her walk is seriously mesmerizing.)
8:00 AM. Up and at 'em for another early morning. First stop: Backstage at Ruffian. Siri Tollerød opened!
8:15 AM. Tallulah Morton grabbing some coffee.
8:20 AM. I was really drawn to this white, ruffled look at Ruffian.
10:30 AM. After a leisurely breakfast, I headed to Milk Studios for Peter Som. I was super excited to hear that the shoes were created in collaboration with Charlotte Olympia, but instead of the towering platforms I expected, Som showed ladylike, pointy kitten heels.
10:30 AM. Tao walking at Peter Som. Her look had fur sleeves, which was a common element throughout the collection.
10: 47 AM. The always lovely Julia Frakes of Bunny Bisous outside of Milk post-Peter Som. Seriously lusting after her Rag & Bone coat and Rodarte for Opening Ceremony sunglasses!
10:47 AM. Joanna Hillman and her PS11. Sigh.
10:50 AM. Models Valerija Kelava and Anais Mali having a moment after the show. Valerija is channeling Snooki a bit with this exaggerated poof, no?
10:50 AM. I think it's safe to say that Olivia Palermo is one of the most photogenic and put-together people on the planet. Her leopard belt and purple fur scarf are to die for!
11:25 AM. Backstage at Jason Wu. The Swarovski crystals he incorporated into the collection were so sparkly and light-catching that they were seriously blinding from the runway.
11:27 AM. Karlie Kloss having a last-minute fitting for her dress, a black chiffon gown that was one of the show's closing looks.
11:30 AM. I've never been a huge fan of feathers, but seeing Wu's collection walk yesterday might have changed my mind.
11:30 AM. The printed silk pieces that made up the first series of looks. The sportswear section of the show was impressive, from the lace-trimmed separates, to the cigarette pants, to the perfectly tailored coats and jackets.
11:40 AM. The model board! Daphne Groeneveld opened and Jourdan Dunn closed. This is one of the most stellar lineups that I've had the pleasure of seeing.
11:44 AM. Daphne preparing to get her hair painted with 24 karat gold leaf.
11:48 AM. Ginta Lapina showing off her bold eye makeup.
11:50 AM. Jourdan, Karlie and Mirte the closing trio trying on their looks one last time.
11:55 AM. My paparazzi shot of Karlie I just couldn't resist.
1:14 PM. The space filling up at Jason Wu. If you look closely at the front row to the left, you will spot Anna Wintour and her two gigantic bodyguards who were shooing photographers away from the Vogue section.
1:25 PM. Karmen walking at Wu.
1:30 PM. Joan Smalls in one of the dresses from the Versailles-inspired collection.
2:20 PM. Walked over to Chelsea Market to grab a quick lunch with my friend Britt, the style news editor at Elle.com. Fact: Sweet potato fries are the perfect pick-me-up when you're on the brink of exhaustion.
3:00 PM. Arrived at Milk for the Costello Tagliapietra show, but stood in line for 35 minutes before I was let in. Contemplated leaving, but I'm glad I didn't.
3:40 PM. Katie Fogarty wore a sequined, striped dress that gave me some serious disco-fever vibes.
3:46 PM. Final walk at Costello. Loved the warm color palate and the draped satin dresses.
3:48 PM. Run down 15th Street (in heels!) to get a cab so I can make it to backstage at Rag & Bone.
4:10 PM. The bleach-blonde Britt Maren in the makeup chair at Rag & Bone. I love the long hair on her!
4:15 PM. Model Madelen De La Motte in her futuristic-slash-sporty look for the show. I'm really loving the hair!
4:21 PM. My illegal snapshot of the collection you can see that I was promptly shooed away by an angry hand wielding a Blackberry. Even though it's contraband, the clothing fit for a futuristic eskimo (with an affinity for tartan plaids and baseball uniforms) was too brilliant not to share.
4:25 PM. My favorite show-goer, Man Repeller, outside of the show. She's sporting a Spring 2010 Rag & Bone skirt to show her team spirit!
5:00 PM. Arrive at the office for the first time today, and indulged in a little afternoon snack. If you read my day one diary, you might see a pattern forming...
6:30 PM. Last stop! The Complex Geometries presentation at the Westway the newest venture from Matt Kliegman and Carlos Quirarte of The Smile. Yes, those are stripper poles. Yes, the men are in platform shoes, and yes, the clothes were awesome.
6:30 PM. I. Am. Dead. It was an amazing day, but I'm ready to spend some quality time with my couch and a warm blanket. See you tomorrow!
