Anyone well-versed in the realm of fashion magazines knows that the September issue is the pinnacle of the year-long publication cycle. Often any magazine’s biggest issue of the year, there’s a lot of hype around their respective releases, and the choice of cover star, outfit, background and graphics are all equally vital.

After all, September issues are really a competition between publications. Magazines are always seeking to out-do each other in length, number of ads, and the extravagance of the cover look. The name at the helm of the game, Vogue, is notorious for its heavyweight September issue, which has been the subject of a popular fashion documentary (aptly named The September Issue) and comes to a final count of 916 pages this year (the biggest in its history).

As the fashion glossies’ respective fall issues hit the newsstands — a select few are available now — we’ve started rounding up some of the best from all over the world, and we’ll keep updating as new ones are released.

From American Bazaar to Vogue Japan, check out our slideshow and let us know which September cover you like most!
