Canada is the hub of fashion lately, eh? Jak and Jil’s Tommy Ton’s photo exhibit, entitled When Tommy met Anna is currently on display in Toronto. Tommy Ton goes to Toronto!
Dazed Digital chatted with the street style photog, and although he said some really lovely things, our main interest is his way with the metaphors and similes when it comes to talking his muse. Bring on the pull quotes:
A bird:
“I like to compare Anna to a bird of paradise. When she enters the picture its kind of like when a film actress enters a movie set. It changes, elevates and brings glamour to everything. We can be in the most unglamorous setting for a show. And then, Anna appears and everything changes.”
A bird, again…
“In the exhibit, the one of her in the giant black feather shoulders, her mouth is kind of dropped open and shes walking in Paris. I dont know what kind of character she looks like, maybe a black swan.”
Then Dazed gets in on the comparisons… to a bird…
“Dazed: like a really beautiful elegant vulture?
Tommy Ton: Exactly, shes like some creature youre very intimidated by but you cant help but to look at.”
But then she’s a dessert!
“…because of how colourful and whimsical she is. I dont know if you could say her style is this but I would say she would be a French pastry that you would find in Laduree.”
Basically, this woman defies comparisons. These two are so the new Karl and Baptiste.
