Paris Fashion Week has officially started. Christophe Balmain made it loud and clear that the 80s are back in a big way–Madonna soundtrack and all. Acid wash jeans, tutu skirt dresses, square-shoulder Thriller jackets, and bandage mini-dresses bedazzled in sequins and jewels is all it took to have me leaning forward in my seat, awaiting the next look to appear on the runway. I was intrigued by the designer’s past fall collection and from the looks of this show, so was the retail world. Why else would Christophe give us an encore of the rock ‘n’ roll mood of season past? If it works, it simply works.
Highlight dream buys for me include the skinny white jeans with the faint accidental color bleeding, the light blue denim officer jacket, the ripped acid wash skinnies, and the lady–like blazers with the severely sharp shoulders.
Notice that I featured the girl with the short hair in this picture? I am seriously considering the cut. I mean, how will I be able to highlight the strong shoulders on my new Balmain jacket if my hair is cascading over them?
