"Rad and I take a break from fittings to have a kiki... naturally."

"Slicked back hair cascades into loose, natural texture that's classic but extremely tough."

"I love the crimp that hair stylist Ramona Eschbach [from agency, Jed Root] leaves at the base of the head this season. Perfectly undone."

"Definitely one of my favorite faces this season."

"Ensuring the vests fit just right. Dallas at RED is so sweet to put up with the perfectionist in me."

"The early stages of a polished, sleek final look."

"A work in progress... We're all very visual when it comes to making decisions."

"Is it just me, or does every Asian model come off the runway doing this for the photographers backstage?"

"LOVE Pascal from Major. Such a sweet kid and fits everything perfectly."

"Pretty in pink. Rad plays with powder pink and plum for his 6th unisex collection. (Feel better Pascal -- he was nipped with scissors doing a haircut before he arrived!)"

It’s easy to have the misconception that the collections seen on the runway materialize out of thin air. Blood, sweat and most definitely tears go into every show, and with that in mind, we asked some of the most prominent and influential designers and stylists — both established and emerging — to share a day in their lives (in their own words) as they prepare for New York Fashion Week.

While designers devote heaps of time and energy into curating a new collection, sometimes they call on an additional set of eyes to help crystallize their vision. Enter the stylist, who helps guide and sometimes present new perspectives on a specific piece or the overall showing.

Designer Rad Hourani has been making waves, especially with his first (unisex!) couture show, and is quickly becoming a favorite with his deconstructed minimalism. Rad approaches his projects a bit differently: Instead of following the fashion calendar of many seasons, he simply approaches his work as collections without any specific season. So, for his sixth collection for his younger line, RAD Rad Hourani, we caught up with stylist William Graper to shed light on how a stylist approaches working with a designer to present a collection, and how a day in his life looks as the big show approaches.
