Spring Trend: Bomber Jackets

It looks like last year’s ubiquitous motorcycle jackets and varsity styles have been replaced with bomber jackets, as evidenced by the staggering number of designers that showcased their own styles on spring runways.

While most stuck to the classic, sporty shape that the bomber is known for, many were fashioned in ultra-luxe fabrics like silk, mesh, neoprene, and tulle—most notably (and beautifully) at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Marni, and Tracy Reese.

Don’t own a bomber yet? Look for lightweight, slouchy versions that can elevate a pair of jeans, yet work nicely for a night out, when paired with a skirt and heels.

If you’re really looking to make a statement, seek out embelished bombers—like the drop-dead gorgeous versions seen at Marni and Erdem—for a super-striking juxtaposition of casual and ornate.
