From perforated performance fabrics to laser cut leathers, one of our favorite Spring 2012 trends is all about emphasizing negative space. Fabrics with holes, loose knit weaves and cutout designs serve to lighten up longer looks and thicker fabrics that might otherwise be too heavy for spring weather.
There were star-shaped holes on the Acne runway, intricate lace patterns at Giles, and plenty of mesh and punctured fabrics all around. We are pretty much over elaborate embellishments, and this trend adds interest without weighing us down.
What do you think of these cutout styles? Are you ready to show a little skin next season?
