Sophomore Chic

As the days of summer swiftly recede, I’m finding myself pondering my fall fashion identity more often than not. It’s time to break out of my boho streak, so easily defaulted to in the warmer months, and step it up a notch. But to what end? Who will I be come September? Will it be the quirky New England schoolgirl with her high-waisted paperbag trousers and tweed newsboy caps? Will it be the sleek, monochromatic, put-together city woman? Or will it be the sexy, cigarette-smoking, perpetually rumpled girlfriend-of-a-rockstar in Alex Wang leather and ripped boyfriend jeans? Decisions, decisions.

Personally, I tend to have a minor case of Multiple Personality Disorder when it comes to fashion, veering towards seersucker-preppy one moment, only to pull on a pair of black leather leggings the next. So, it’s always a bit muddled for me. However, this season, there’s one thing I know for sure. One of the first things I’ll pick up in the course of fall shopping is this perfect U-neck tee in the picture above. It’s Sophomore, a newish line designed by Chrissie Miller (who happens to be the daughter of my astrology-obsession, Susan Miller of astrologyzone.com–she is so eerily accurate, I check her monthly horoscopes at midnight on the dot on the last day of every month, without fail).

This season, Miller’s brought on Madeleine von Froomer, formerly at Proenza Schouler, to help develop her fall collection. I’m loving almost everything in the lookbook, which is filled with pictures of her friends modeling the clothes. And with pals like Jen Brill, Donald Cummings, and Bijou Phillips hailing Sophomore as a “lifestyle”, it’s no wonder the line is so damn chic.

Sold at Opening Ceremony. Visit sophomorenyc.com for more info.
