I don’t have a strong sweet tooth—I’ll take French fries over French vanilla ice cream any day—but upon browsing My Name is Yeh, one of my go-to food blogs, I was oddly captivated by a sangria recipe that uses candy. Or more specifically, colorful gummy bears.
I’d normally run the other way at the thought of such a cloying cocktail, but as I read through Sarah Yeh‘s recipe, I realized the bears were only the super-sweet thing about the drink, and they’re soaked in vodka for hours beforehand which cuts some of the sugary flavor—and is why Yeh refers to them as “drunky bears.”
Also, instead of traditional sangria that uses a mess of rich booze like brandy, all this version takes is wine, a bit of apple juice, club soda, apples, and limes.
Not only is the sangria fun to drink, but when served in mason jars, it looks so damn cool. So whether you’re looking for something to do with your leftover Halloween candy, or just want to impress your squad at your next party, head over to My Name is Yeh for the complete recipe now
