Who would’ve thought Justin Bieber’s lyrics would lend themselves so well to a soap-opera script? Well, James Corden, for one. Last night on “The Late Late Show,” the host enlisted guests Salma Hayek, Gary Oldman, and Ray Romano to perform a tale of infidelity, heartbreak, and intrigue—composed entirely of lines like, “I know you know I’ve made this mistake maybe once or twice—or maybe a couple of hundred times,” “If you like the way you look that much; oh, baby, you should go and love yourself,” and “If I were your boyfriend, I’d never let you go” (along with the requisite “swag, swag, swag”).

The only thing that would make the drama better? If the carpool karaoke king himself had turned up as one of Hayek’s jilted lovers. Ah, well, there’s always next time.
