Texture is not a dirty word in the Mulleavy house. For the latest collection of the sister’s line, Rodarte, embellishments, fabrics and structure were compiled into a collection that took a more commercial spin compared to previous seasons. In a look that we’d likely describe as baroque dominatrix, leather pants laced up-to-there resembled costuming from the Matrix offset chunky knits and pixel prints.
Meanwhile, leather jackets boasted fringe that resembled over-sized pulled threads from what might well be other fabric from the collection. There also seemed to be an armor-like influence throughout the collection as over-sized chain links and panels made reference to chest plates. With all these different directions in one collection, it may be that the designers really wanted to appeal to a broad range of buyers, celebrities, and editors — something for everyone, if you will.
But judge for yourself! Read on to see all the looks from the Rodarte Spring 2013 collection.
