She’s as well-known for her bold fashion choices as she is being one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, so it’s hard to be surprised by news that Rihanna has decided to launch a clothing label of her own.
Grazia is reporting that the 27-year-old star is shifting her energy from music to focus on a budding career as a fashion designer–perhaps explaining why her recent single, American Oxygen, didn’t get past number 71 on the UK charts, a far cry from her former chart-topping singles like “SOS” and “Rude Boy.”
A source told the magazine that RiRi will start by offering accessories, covering “everything from tote bags to purses, and later on, fashion. She still loves the music, and it’s what launched her, but this is her focus right now.”
Fueling the rumors are further reports that Rihanna’s company, Roraj Trade, registered and trademarked a new brand called $CHOOL KIlls in the US last month. The brand’s been filed under the categories of “leather products” and “clothing products,” which seems like a dead giveaway that a fashion and accessories line is in the works.
A label seems like a logical next step for the star, who’s already tested out design gigs throughout an ongoing collaboration with River Island.
