Alexa Chung and Tennessee Thomas looking adorably mod.

Charlotte Gainsbourg looking breathtakingly bohemian at the Balenciaga show.

We love Zoe Kravitz's mish-mash style that's completely her own.

Daphne Guinness, in a word: wow.

Mary Kate Olsen looking ravishing at the Simon Doonan Presents the Diet Pepsi Style Studio Fashion Show.

Actress Dakota Fanning arrives at Cosmopolitan's Fun Fearless Males and Females looking adorable and age appropriate.

Miley Cyrus is totally not afraid to take some risks, for which we give her mad kudos.

Alexa Chung is always a stand out for us. We love her stick-to-her-guns style even when the bloggers get nasty.

Michelle Harper is seriously up there for us. She's a constant inspiration in her ever-evolving style.

Zooey Deschanel has a way with dresses, seriously.

Enough of the fashion education, model Chanel Iman clearly is having fun defining her own style and looking good while doing it!

Confession: Sometimes abiding by trends can be a huge nuisance to me. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing the new favorite look of the season and how such a huge slew of designers can interpret one or two looks for their own vision and shopper. And not for the nothing, the ideas it spurs for not only my own outfits but also the numerous photo shoots we jam out over here.

But on the other hand, I find myself wondering, where does that leave us, the regular folk who can’t necessarily splurge every month on a new it-item? Sure, there are diffusion lines and knock-offs that we could snap up in no time. But needless to say, there’s still something in fashion and specifically your own personal style that seems to click, to pick you and probably not leave you for a while — if ever — so what if it’s not a ‘name’ item (or even if it is based around that, alternatively).

It might be a color, a genre or a certain article of clothing that you just can’t not buy. (Truth be told, I can barely ever walk out of a store without a vintage t-shirt or 1960s shift dress in hand). With that in mind, we decided to do a round-up of some of our favorite it-girls and celebrities who have impressed us with their own pure perspective on their personal style without bowing to perhaps more commercial expectations.

Click through the slideshow to see who we’re essentially girl-crushing on. Happy Friday!
