In the heart of the West Village on 31 Cornelia St. sits chef Steven Crane‘s Italian jewel of a restaurant known as Po. Formerly joint-owned by Iron Chef‘s Mario Batali and Crane – it is now solely owned by Crane and is better than ever. The cozy space provides a perfect dining area for friends to sip on a Tuscan Chianti and snack on appetizers like their white bean bruschetta or a loaf of crusty Italian bread with flavorful dipping oil while selecting a salad and a main course.
The dinner menu boast a wide assortment of dishes that make the process difficult, but ordering up a variety for the the table to share proves to be successful. The servings are hearty, but make sure to leave room for dessert; the Ricotta Cheese Cake with Vermont Maple Sauce is a favorite. Servers are attentive and keep the courses flowing throughout your stay, keeping you satisfied and giddy with conversation and good wine. The atmosphere alone makes this restaurant definitely worth a visit.
