The past year has been a pretty good one, in terms of home decor. We didn’t have to slather our walls with awful paint colors like mustard yellow, and natural textiles won every time over fussier fabrics.

To reflect: there was the rise of white marble accents, Aussie designers that were having a moment, and a brief frenzy after everyone tried to figure out how to incorporate Pantone’s pastel pink “rose quartz” and powder blue “serenity” into their own apartments.

But since 2015 is about to be a distant memory, it’s time to look ahead to the biggest design trends of the new year. And, according to Pinterest, 2016 will be a seriously stylish one, with geometric tiles, Scandinavian-inspired design, and neutrals having a big, big moment.

Check out the other ways you’ll be decorating come January.

Gray, especially deep gunmetal hues, is a big color trend for 2016, according to Pinterest. And, by proxy, bright pops of color to liven things up.

Exposed cords are so 2015. In the new year, expect to find clever ways to hide them.
