Here’s some interesting news to brighten up a Thursday: Your future husband Patrick Dempsey is set to star in the third Bridget Jones movie.
It’s been 11 long years since the world was graced with the last installment—”Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” hit theaters in 2004—and McDreamy is set to join original stars Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth in “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” Variety reports.
Like the previous two movies, this story is based on columns written by author Helen Fielding, and People is reporting that it’ll fill in the blanks between the second film and Fielding’s 2013 book Mad About the Boy.
Right now, details of the plot are being closely guarded, but it seems as though the storyline will find Bridget unexpectedly pregnant.
There isn’t any information circulating about who the father is, so we’re thinking Dempsey’s role will either play a Hugh Grant-esque love interest (nope, he’s not on board for the movie) and potential baby daddy, or—thanks to some “Grey’s Anatomy” inspired typecasting—Jones’s obstetrician. Or, perhaps both.
Sharon Maguire, who directed the original “Briget Jones’s Diary” is back at the helm for the third go-around and filming is set to kick off in the U.K. on October 2.
