NYFW F/W 2012: ICB By Prabal Gurung Takes Us To The Future

Well kids, the future is here. This morning at precisely 11:30 (although tardiness was allowed) I logged onto the Digital Fashion Show website and took my spot in the front row of the ICB by Prabal Gurung show, courtesy of KCD Worldwide. Not to be mistaken for a livestream of a show that is physically taking place at the tents, Gurung’s digital show was online only, giving you up-close access to the clothes and the makeup looks.

While sitting at my cozy desk (chowing down on a cupcake, if I’m going to be perfectly honest) I fell in love with Gurung’s collection for ICB. It stayed true to Gurung’s design aesthetic, but with a toned down element of drama. The wool bomber jacket in a perfect shade of orange pictured below is one of those statement pieces that you’ll always want to work into an outfit.

And you want to talk prints? Well then look no further than these silk pants with tuxedo trim detail that I am absolutely lusting over.

The ability to pause and rewind the show while keeping track of the materials that make up each look made the whole show experience much more interactive. While nothing can quite replace the process of strutting through Lincoln Center in a carefully curated ensemble and getting excited over the fashion-greats that surround you, there’s definitely something to be said for this new digital show.

Check out the video below to find out about Prabal’s inspiration for the show!
