Last night Gen Art showcased with the Californian brand Nice Collective. Nice Collective is already a brand with a strong reputation and following especially among rock musicians such as Gavin Rossdale, Coldplay, The Police, and Ricky Martin (wait… what?)
The show was a spectacular embodiment of the brand’s self description as the line, “commands the elusive space between formal and casual attire, pushing the boundaries of a modern wardrobe for Men and Women.”
That’s all good and fancy terminology with multi-syllable words but what it translated to visually was an impressive collection including coattails, top hats and long johns in dusted and worn tones of hunter green, cream, charcoal grey. The show felt like I was out in the woods with a band of vampire acrobatic circus performers who were previously sleeping and had mere seconds to shove their feet into boots (provided by Doc Martens) before running into the woods.
Nice Collective presented a stellar collection of pieces that are fantastically whimsical and when worn as separates completely approachable for the non-carnie folk. If you’re interested in stocking up in Nice Collective, they’re available at Barneys along with 99 other retail outlets. Nice.
