Missy Elliott Just Dropped Her First Solo Track in 7 Years


Aside from her epic surprise performance at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, we haven’t heard much from Missy Elliott in recent years. Well, she’s back, and she’s released a predictably provocative track titled “WTF (Where They From)”—keep your mind out of the gutter, folks—that also features Pharrell.

It’s been seven long years since she last released a solo song, and Missy doubled up for the debut, also launching the track’s music video this morning. Following a classic music video formula, the footage shows the rapper and her backup dancers rolling through New York City. There’s some flawless choreography, a human disco ball, marionettes, Biggie beanies, and plenty of hair/makeup/wardrobe changes throughout the clip.

We first caught wind of “WTF” in October, when ESPN started using it in advertisements and throughout its NBA coverage. At the same time, Missy took to Twitter and Instagram to tease the new track. Now you can watch the full video and listen to the complete track right here:
