Marchesa’s runway shows during New York Fashion Week always draw some of the biggest start to the front row, and this year, the label took the spectacle to new heights by staging its spring runway show at Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central … right in the middle of rush hour. (The pedestrians on the crowded sidewalk outside thought maybe the president was in town, no joke.)
Inside, the setting could not have been more spectacular, and the front row featured none other than Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
For spring, the label was influenced by “the spirit of India in the 1960s, as captured by the Beatles’ experience with the Maharishi,” the result of which included paisley, brocade, and — of course — tons of embellishments. In some of the collection’s more literal nods to Indian fashion, there were a few sari-inspired looks, as well as dresses rendered in saturated color and bright metallic touches at hems.
