The Twitterverse literally exploded last night, thanks to the always outspoken Kanye West. Mr. West, who has made a name for himself thanks to his erratic and often inappropriate behavior (Taylor Swift, anyone?), went on an 80 tweet rant that made a ton of sense at times, and NONE at others to those of us that follow him and found our feed “Kanye-fied” for a long time.
However, one pearl of knowledge we gained from the tirade was that Kanye is launching a “design company,” named DONDA after his late mother. “DONDA is a design company which will galvanize amazing thinkers and put them in a creative space to bounce there dreams and ideas,” he explained.
“I want to put creatives in a room together with like minds that are all waaaay doper than me. DONDA will be comprised of over 22 divisions with a goal to make products and experiences that people want and can afford,” he tweeted. OK, so what exactly does this mean? Apparently, Yeezy has assembled a dynamite team of “architects, graphic designers, directors musicians, producers, AnRs, writers, publicist, social media experts, app guys, managers, car designers, clothing designers, DJs, video game designers, publishers, tech guys, lawyers, bankers, nutritionists.”
He then made reference to the impact Dr. Dre has made on the headphone industry. Honestly, I’m perplexed as to what exactly DONDA is all about. But tell me, are you excited? Maybe he’ll be much better received with a “design company” concept than he was with the fashion community last season…
