It’s kind of annoying just how talented Justin Timberlake is, and Wednesday night’s performance at the CMA Awards proved that even more.

JT joined CMA Artist of the Year winner Chris Stapleton—a pretty incredible talent in his own rightin a ridiculously soulful rendition of the George Jones classic “Tennessee Whiskey” before transitioning into Timberlake’s “Drink You Away,” and suffice it to say, the crowd (and Twitter) went wild.

The eight-minute jam session featured both Justin (wearing Balmain, FYI) and Chris on guitar, a killer brass band, and Stapleton’s wife, Morgane, singing backup, resulting in a take-you-to-church mix of classic country, Southern rock, and serious blues.

It was a risk for JT that paid off. The country music crowd is notoriously fickle: Last year, pop darling Meghan Trainor was invited to perform her butt-celebrating anthem “All About That Bass” with country queen Miranda Lambert, and the audience was hilariously horrified—most were caught scowling in their seats.

Justin slayed it though, so watch the performance below.
