“Let go of things not meant for you.” Preach, Justin, preach. Justin Bieber has been super emo on Instagram of late, posting a pic of himself pouting into a mirror, along with a recent shot that included the above-mentioned maxim; if his posts weren’t so ridiculous, they might actually make someone somewhere shed a tear. Even Selena Gomez, Bieber’s biggest love to date, is probably trying harder to stifle a laugh than a cry right now. After news emerged recently that Gomez is dating someone new — could be singer Charlie Puth, could be some guy named Samuel Krost, who knows anymore — Bieber is apparently trying to move on via social media. I bet he’s wondering if it’s too late now to say, “Sorry.”
Biebs has also been exhibiting a strange admixture of contrite and bad-boy, infusing an Eastern sensibility into his wild antics, but perhaps he needs a better fact-checker. (Though he attributed his moody adage to Buddha, Buddha said no such thing, according to the site Fake Buddha Quotes.) The whole “Buddha” axiom Bieber posted was, “In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.” On Bieber’s Insta, it was typewritten, because #analog is so #authentic.
These missives come one week after Bieber threw a steamy shot of himself and Gomez lip-locked with the caption “Feels” onto his Instagram, which happened before news of the Gomez-Puth (Pomez? Guth?) connection surfaced. Though Gomez commented on the ‘gram, writing, “Perfect,” looks like it wasn’t perfect enough to bring back sufficient “feels” for her. That said, Gomez hit Bieber’s L.A. show last week, so — TBD. For his part, Biebs has been kinda-sorta dating Hailey Baldwin, which maybe isn’t going so well, possibly because it sounds like he’s a bit of a commitmentphobe. Oh, what a tangled web we weave.
