Is Frank Miller a YSL Fan?

I’ve been dying to see Frank Miller’s upcoming film noir, Spirit, ever since I first saw the previews in theatres a couple of months ago. It looked like it was going to be…dark, sinful, and wickedly sexy. And with that cast of real-life femme fatales (read: Scarlett Johanssen, Eva Mendes, Paz Vega), how could it be anything but? And now, looking over these newly released stills from the movie, I’ve found yet another reason I’ll be first in line to see it: not only do the costumes look completely genius, it seems as though the creative team took a wee bit of inspiration from a certain, Very Important Runway (herein referred to as VIR). This VIR would be the Yves Saint Laurent fall 2008 show, where the models were all sent stomping out in slick, glossy black lips, blunt black hair, and some serious sex appeal. Throw in some of that lightning bolt eyeliner that Paz Vega sports and Miller’s got himself a surefire hit.
