Here’s Why Rooney Mara Is The New Kristen Stewart

I had a huge realization while watching Oscar nominee Rooney Mara get interviewed on the red carpet last night: she truly is the new Kristen Stewart. You’re probably wondering what exactly I mean by this, so let me break it down for you:

  1. They are both the stars of major franchises based off of major books. Obviously, K-Stew is the queen of Twilight, and Rooney has brought The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to life. But not only do they star, but they seem to have both become their characters. Kristen appears to be some sort of real-life version of Bella Swan (or maybe she just isn’t acting at all…), and Rooney has literally not taken herself out of character. She constantly appears dressed as Lisbeth Salander. It’s actually sort of disturbing.
  2. They are both so awkward. So, so awkward. Don’t get me wrong, I love K-Stew more than life itself, but she is known for her inability to communicate with reporters. She’s gotten better, but Rooney still has a LONG way to go.
  3. They are also both over it. Even though they are young with tons of money in the bank, they seem to be completely removed from the Hollywood scene, and from the world in general. Their public appearances tend to be characterized by eye rolls, sighs and basically just staring into space.

Okay, I understand if you think this is a bit of a stretch, but I truly feel that Rooney has taken K-Stew’s throne as the queen of looking perpetually bored and uncomfortable. What do you think? Am I crazy, or is this connection clear to anyone else?
