GenArt‘s annual Fresh Faces in Fashion program returns to New York Fashion Week this September. Celebrating its 14th year in New York, the event propels emerging fashion designers into the industry spotlight; notable alumni include Rodarte, Zac Posen and Phillip Lim, and several past participants went on to win the CFDA Emerging Designer Award.

Announced earlier this afternoon, this year’s event will include Spring 2013 collections from: Anne Sofie Madsen, Amanda Lew Kee, Chloe Comme Parris, COMEFORBREAKFAST, Gretchen Jones and A-Morir. The line-up will also feature Kenyan designer Katungulu Mwendwa, who was selected from this year’s GenArt Global program. Designers were selected by Aurora James on a basis of design caliber, experience and industry buzz, among other specified criteria.

Program sponsor Moroccanoil will present the runway shows in New York and Los Angeles and will work closely with designers to create distinct hairstyles for their shows.

“We’ve made a lot of changes to GenArt this season and the way we are presenting the show,” commented GenArt CEO Marc Lotenberg in a press release. “It’s going to have a lot of energy–we’re making it more of an event than a simple runway presentation.”

This year marked an evolution for GenArt, with the launches of GenArt Global and an online contest for designer submissions. The program hopes to keep expanding its reach, spreading awareness about the world’s rising fashion talents.
