This fall, we dive back into some of our favorite romances and dramas written by Mr. Shakespeare himself. We pick up influences from these epic characters and don pieces reflective of some of their most influential style.

Dolce & Gabanna explored the more opulent side of Shakespearean influences.

Salvatore Ferragamo took a romantic approach to Shakespearean dressing on its fall runway.

Leave it to John Galliano to present a full display of Shakespearean influences full of rich embellishments, collars, and hats.

Capes are a staple when it comes to pulling off this look. Here, a shorter version can transition wonderfully from day-to-night.

We’re in solid agreement around here that Gwyneth Paltrow is pretty much perfect in the film Shakespeare in Love. You can only imagine our excitement when we spied hints of her character on fall runways. Romantic opulence was the name of the game, as full-length lace gowns, baroque crowns, and even capes made a big splash.

While we always considered ourselves more of an Ophelia of sorts, we’re super stoked to see some of the more stoic personalities come to life as well. With fall on the upswing, we’re eager to incorporate accents of this trend into our wardrobes — from sweeping dresses to extravagant jacquard pants. For a basic interpretation, consider throwing on a bold brocade blazer over a high-collared blouse with a ruffled bib necklace and slim trousers.

Here, we share key items to achieve this trend on your own. Read on to see these must-haves!
