Welcome to Rebecca Minkoff’s “Girls Night Out” at Saks 5th Avenue. Last night at Fashion’s Night Out, we were able to participate in Minkoff’s girly extravaganza. Saks was bustling with trendy shoppers, the fashion forward, and designer appearances on this renowned night of fashion. However, Rebecca Minkoff and her crew were throwing a glam gathering on floor five that attracted quite the crowd.

With a ponytail bar, friendship bracelet station, henna tattoo artists, and a smokey eye station, the night was every girl’s dream. Lines snaked through the isles of Saks filled with excited hopefuls waiting their turn to get glammed up. Best of all, Minkoff was there for a meet and greet at her own event. We were able to get an exclusive interview with the designer herself.

What is your fall essential item this year?

“These are the Gavin Leather pants. So these,” Minkoff said as she pointed down to the black trouser with leather accents, that she was wearing from her Fall 2012 collection.

What was the inspiration behind your new Spring/Summer 2013 collection?

“The photographer Les Marrons. I was really influenced by his colors, the light style. He was always traveling and photographing glamorous people. What is that girl doing and what is she wearing now?”

You mentioned you were a jean and t-shirt girl, so bags are an essential part of complimenting an outfit. What do you look for in a bag when buying this important accessory?

“Function, weight and style. I like to make bags that do more than just one thing, like a cross body.”
