There comes a time in every young pretty girl actress’ career when she must decide to not let her beauty overwhelm her talent. She must take the proverbial and actual shears in hand and cut away at the golden locks of her youth and the artifice of beauty. OK, that might be overstating it a bit. Dakota Fanning cut all of her hair off in the grand tradition of Emma Watson, Mia Wasikowska, Carey Mulligan and Michelle Williams.

Presumably, the cut was for her role as a cancer patient in the film Now Is Good, which is not to say that she won’t be on the cover of a magazine in a 60s inspired look being called the next Mia Farrow within the next three months. Just saying.

HOORAY FOR SHORT HAIR! Clue to the clueless: some men actually PREFER it on women, and some take it to the level of a fetish (insisting on going along when you get it cut, etc.).

At least once, every woman should find one of these men and date him, then marvel at the MANY HOURS she saves per week on washing/drying/styling — and the MANY DOLLARS saved on styling products and tools!

I’ve only grown my hair longer than my shoulders once in my life…and hated every second of it. Some women, like me, simply don’t have “good hair” for wearing long. If it were socially/corporately acceptable for women to shave their heads like some men do, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Eh. Maybe in another life, on another planet ;)

I usually hate child actors but she was the exception.  She seems like a very sweet and grounded, talented girl, turning into a beautiful young woman.
