Eyewear, it seems, is no longer just a necessity (you know, so people can see) but instead an inspired opportunity to accessorize. At least, that’s the conclusion we came to after seeing Alessandro Michele send wire-framed aviators and glitter-encrusted statement specs down the runway yet again for his Gucci Spring 2016 collection.

Add that to the bevy of Insta-girls like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner who now proudly rock decidedly nerdy-chic styles like horn-rimmed frames and round wire lenses, and it seems that glasses are this season’s hottest (and most practical) accessory.

So yeah: Wipe away any dated notions about men not making passes at girls who wear glasses (and, anyway, who cares?). There’s no better time to highlight your face with a pair of specs than now with this season’s fresh crop. From artsy all-clear frames to candy-colored retro cat-eyes, there’s a style for everyone. Geek chic has never looked so cool.
