Christian Louboutin and photographer Peter Lippman took that whole idea of fashion as art to a very classical level. For his Fall 2011 lookbook, Louboutin took those red soles and studded shoes and integrated them into classical portraiture like Georges de la Tours Magdalene and the Flame, Whistler’s Mother and Saint Dorothy by Francisco De Zurbaran.
In a way it’s all very second year photo student, but the end results are pretty cool if you take them as a bit tongue in cheek. Otherwise, I honestly don’t know what a leopard handbag would be doing in a Jean-Marc Nattier.
