Most designers are lucky if they can get a handful of mid-level “celebrities” sitting front row at their fashion shows, but most designers aren’t Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci.
Tisci made headlines earlier this year when he decided to move his twice-yearly runway shows from Paris to New York, and pretty much every famous person that ever lived showed up for the event, which was held on an outdoor pier in lower Manhattan.
Apart from some cool stuff like a performance by artist Marina Abromovic, and the fact that winners of a competition organized in partnership with the city attended, it was the sheer number of famous faces that stole the show.
There were your A-list ladies: Julia Roberts, Amanda Seyfried, Uma Thurman, Hailee Steinfeld, Rachel Zoe, and Kim Kardashian; there were your typical Givenchy muses like Liv Tyler, Ciara, Courtney Love, and Erika Badu; there were your models and fashion folk like Lara Stone, Karen Elson, Doutzen Kroes, Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, and Vera Wang.
Hell, even David Copperfield showed up!
