The Belvie is Boss!

Heinken sells beer cozies. Jim Beam has a BBQ set. But trust Belvedere, the company who brought us the seriously underused Jade Jagger Ice Pick, to team up with Brit wunderkind Jonathan Kelsey on the Belvie. This limited-edition overnight bag will mark the first time in history an alcoholic beverage company is bringing consumers a must-have accessory.

To celebrate the launch of Belvedere’s latest maceration (which is kind of a nice way of saying flavored vodka) Belvedere Black Raspberry, the centuries old Polish liquor brand joined forces with Jonathan Kelsey, often called “Britain’s answer to Christian Louboutin” to produce Kelsey’s first bag. The result is the aptly named “Belvie”, an over-sized satchel with croc embossed white leather, metallic gold trim, and exaggerated exposed stitching– all very Sasha Fierce goes on a safari.

The beauty of the bag lies in its versatility. It was expressedly created to be as big an overnight bag disguised as a purse for all the scenesters who go straight from Santos to the office and don’t necessarily want to do the walk o’shame. If that’s not enticing enough, there’s also a secret compartment for a bottle of Belvedere Black Raspberry. Just blame it on the a a a a a alcohol.

For a brand that courts both R&B stars and millionaires, it makes sense that Belvedere has chosen to work with Grammy Award-winning recording artist, Estelle (who is both) as the official “face” of the Belvie, she co-hosted a global launch of the bag with Mr. Kelsey on Wednesday Night at Belv’s Mercer street pop up store. Fellow maceraters (not masturbators!) included Kelly Bensimon, designers Phillip Lim and Matthew Williamson, Jessica Stam, and Erin Lucas, who was tres excited, saying, “Finally, a bag that really does go with everything!” Even modish alcoholics.

The Belvie is currently available at Jeffrey New York and retails for approximately $1,400.
