Behind The Bar: Sippin’ On Some Holiday Cheer

Most people wear themed clothing and accessories to celebrate the holidays — I spend mine taste-testing alcoholic delights like the Horny Cupid, Blue Cottontail and (my personal Halloween fave) the Shirley Temple of Doom. Sure, the cocktail recipes can get a wee bit kitschy at times, but then you stumble upon one that strikes a festive cord and suddenly it becomes a go-to party essential.

This season, the buzz (pun intended) has been building over the Harmonie Merry-Tini. A straight-forward drink without the silly fluff, colored sprinkles or holiday hoopla of its cocktail predecessors, this modified martini is pretty to look at but even better to sip on. With subtle citrus notes and a sweet aftertaste, it’s certainly more refreshing than Grandma’s homemade mulled wine or Aunt Milly’s store-bought egg nog.

Mix, shake, strain and then celebrate. Trust me, it’s not every day that you have an opportunity to literally toast your good fortune.

HARMONIE MERRY-TINI

2oz. Harmonie
1oz. Citrus Vodka
.5 oz. Cointreau
.5 oz. Lime Juice

Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a candy cane.
