Side hairstyles are trending on the red carpet, and we can see why. Hairstylist Jenny Cho created this look by winding each section of Amanda Seyfried's hair around the barrel of a large curling iron. After all the hair was curled, she misted a paddle brush with Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray ($2.89, walmart.com) and brushed over the gorgeous waves to break them up and give a softer look.

Jennifer Lawrence's hairstylist Mark Townsend said this Bardot-inspired French twist was his favorite style on the star. Once he pinned hair into a twist, he pulled the ends to the side to create a makeshift pony.

The easiest way to get that side-swept look is with a deep side part like Jaime King's. Because her hair is short, she didn't have to pin any hair back. She just placed front strands behind her ear and gave the illusion of a side style. Styling tip: use a light dab of pomade, such as Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Grooming Pomade ($18, ulta.com), to keep hair behind ear. But use just a tad because you don't want hair to look greasy.

Rihanna was able to put a unique twist on the side-swept hairstyle by shaving the left side of her head. If you want a less permanent option, try French braiding the left side of your hair.

Diane Kruger proves side hairstyles can be cute, too, with this simple braid. That hat/braid combo is perfect for staying pretty during a rainy day.

To keep hair cooperative through the night, try securing hair to the side with a clip until the very last minute when you have to leave the house. By then, hair will hopefully be trained to stick to the side and you can rock a look like this pretty 'do worn by Jessica Alba.

Side-swept bangs make the side style even more dramatic. Beyonce paired her wavy bangs with a side ponytail. Tame your flyaways with Ouidad Climate Control, Frizz & Flyaway Fighter Taming Spray ($20, Ulta.com).

Sally Hershberger created this style for Petra Nemcova by sweeping hair to one side and wrapping sections of hair, varying from 2-5 inches, around a 1-inch curling iron, leaving the ends out. She then spritzed a small amount of Smooth Fix ($24, hsn.com) onto her hair to help break up the waves and add shine before securing the right side with a barrette.

To get a look similar to Naomi Watts', pull one side of your hair back with a few bobby pins and spray with a light hold hairspray to keep it in place.

Abigail Breslin proved side-swept hairstyles can also make you look more dressed up when paired with a red lip.
