We couldn't believe our eyes, either, but this really is Lady Gaga (ne Stefani Germanotta) in February of 2007. Brown hair! Normal clothes! Shy and smiling at the camera! It's all so...jarring. See how this brunette from Yonkers, NY, went from jeans and a tank top to a translucent latex dress.

The first time Lady Gaga performed at Lollapalooza, she was relegated to a small side stage--unlike her headlining status in 2010. The singer was still a brunette and had yet to get her many tattoos. We won't even bring up the outfit. Well, maybe to mention her disco ball bra.

February 2009 saw the birth of the Lady Gaga we know today. She went blonde and started wearing more out-there clothing. It was also the debut of Lady Gaga's famous hair bow--because why use a ribbon when you can use your own hair?

By the time Lady Gaga wore her infamous bubble dress at her first headlining tour (and later on the cover of Rolling Stone), she had officially become a global sensation. Who else could pull off playing the piano wearing a nude leotard covered by a bunch of plastic balls on national TV?

Picasso had a Blue Period; the Alexander McQueen lace shroud Lady Gaga wore to the 2009 VMAs marked the beginning of her Red Period (you'll see what we mean with the next few outfits). It also marked the beginning of people saying "WTF?" about the singer's outfits.

Inhibited? Not our Lady! This red lace bodysuit, which the singer wore to a performance in September 2009, was only the first of many, many sheer outfits to come. Lady Gaga: Owning the nip slip while posing like the Virgin Mary since 2009.

If you're going to be meeting the Queen of England, it's only natural that you'd reach for your red floor-length vinyl dress and accessorize with Queen of Hearts-style bedazzled eye makeup. Why wasn't Lady Gaga invited to the Royal Wedding? Because she'd totally upstage Kate Middleton.

Continuing the theme of spiky hair hats, but emerging from the Red Period, Lady Gaga attended a Polaroid event in January 2010 that launched the singer's new role as the company's "creative director." This hairstyle definitely shows off her "creative" side.

Remember the brief period in late 2009/early 2010 when Lady Gaga carried a tea cup everywhere? What was that all about? Even her father (the man sitting next to her) appears to be confused by his daughter's actions. Note the sheer, bejeweled bodysuit as well, which Gaga actually covered up with a blazer! Guess she decided to rock a more demure look with her tea cup at the Grammys.

Don't worry, she didn't stay covered up for long...

The white tiered robe was just for the red carpet. At the Brit Awards in 2010, Lady Gaga stripped down to a sheer bodysuit with strategically-placed white fabric once she hit the stage.

We normally wear yoga pants and a hoodie when we fly, but after seeing this 2010 photo of Lady Gaga strolling through Heathrow Airport in thigh-high boots, a leather half-skirt of sorts and a leotard, we're seriously rethinking our flight fashion statements. The boots may be a little tricky to take off and on at the security check, though. Maybe we'll stick with the leotard.

Voted the most iconic outfit of 2010, the flank steak dress that Lady Gaga wore to the 2010 VMAs still has people talking. Even Gaga had trouble topping this look.

Since she couldn't really top wearing raw meat, Lady Gaga one-upped herself at the 2011 Grammys with an accessory--a lifesize accessory. Rather than walking the red carpet, the singer was carried into the theater in her "egg," in which she had reportedly been "incubating" for hours. After the egg, her latex outfit wasn't even that shocking.

Lady Gaga recently wrote an entry on her blog in which she stated that she thinks going nude is a "timeless" look. Well, yeah, it's one that everyone is capable of sporting, but that doesn't mean we all have to do it. Let's leave the transparent latex dresses to the sartorial master.
