Pro Surfer Karina Petroni Shares Her Food and Fitness Secrets

Admit it: You’ve always harbored a secret desire to be a surfer girl. Join the club. Not only is knowing how to work a surfboard incredibly badass, but the trappings that come with the sport aren’t bad either, specifically the bronzed skin, naturally sun-bleached hair, toned body, and carefree vibe.

With 15 years experience in the surfing industry, Karina Petroni has all those qualities and more: The 27-year-old was ranked as the sport’s top American female in 2008, and she is still the last woman from the East Coast of the United States to qualify for a World Championship Tour.

Right now, she splits her time between the Bahamas and Florida, where she sticks to a healthy, adventurous food and fitness routine. We asked Petroni to fill us in on exactly what she eats every day and how she likes to stay fit in her off time.

For breakfast I had:
Fruit and eggs.

For lunch I had:
Kale and spinach salad with roasted veggies.

For dinner I had:
Grilled lamb with feta and tomatoes.

Today I snacked on: 
Avocado, cheese, and grapes.

My go-to healthy drink is:
Water and freshly pressed juice.

The one thing I’d never eat is:
Twinkies.

My favorite workout is:
Pilates.

My guilty pleasure food is:
Flan.

Foundation training.

Happy Cup in Atlantic Beach, Florida.

My favorite healthy snack is:
A banana.
