Fall’s Hottest Haircuts
Ready for a seriously stylish makeover? We asked two of New York’s top stylists to brief us on the cuts that will place you ahead of the curve this season.

Short Hair
“The hottest cut right now is the pixie, and yes, it can work on everyone and every face shape because you can adjust the length accordingly,” says Nunzio Saviano, owner of Nunzio Saviano Salon in NYC. “Everyone thinks the pixie is one short cut but that’s not true. There can be long bangs, the top can have height, etc. Everyone doesn’t have to go as short as Beyoncé!” Try going longer on top and shorter on the sides, like Coco Rocha.

Short Hair
The most stylish way to wear short hair right now is with “strong and soft lines mixed together with chewy frames and bangs,” says Edward Tricomi of Warren-Tricomi Salons. “Also, jagged bangs are very flattering with short cuts.” Anne Hathaway's soft pixie is proof that this look can be pretty.

Short Hair
Worried that short hair won’t look flattering on you? Don’t fixate on face shape, says Tricomi, who loves Miley Cyrus' short cut right now. “It's more about your personal style and the hipness factor that you possess. Its less about if the haircut fits your face, but rather do you fit the haircut and does it match your personal style?”

Medium Hair
“Clean or wavy lines,” are key to an on-trend medium haircut, says Tricomi. “Think iconic shapes and haircuts like classic Liz Taylor or Marilyn Monroe. Glamour hair and wavy sets always work best with medium length hair.” Rose Byrne's wavy style is a perfect example.

Bob-length hair that’s been “chopped” at the collarbone — like Lily Collins' — is this season’s cool girl cut du jour, and it’s perfect for pairing with coats and scarves come winter.

Medium Hair
While a style like Kate Mara's suits most faces, those with rounder face shapes should opt to go longer or shorter instead. “Medium length cuts, particularly chin lengths, don’t work for a round face,” says Saviano.

Long Hair
“If you have long hair you have two easy options: either straight and clean or wavy and sexy,” says Tricomi. We love Ciara's polished but not too coiffed texture.

Long Hair
“Long lengths can work for everyone because you can wear it different ways,” says Saviano. Soft, wavy texture like Georgia May Jagger’s is particularly flattering to all features. Plus, “Solid waves are very fresh this season,” Tricomi says.

Long Hair

Making long layers like Scarlett Johansson’s look modern is all about how you style the hair. Don’t curl the hair away from the face (like Farrah Fawcett), says Tricomi. “Rather than flipping the hair, turn it under towards your face like Brigitte Bardot.”
