One of the hottest trends we saw at Fall 2011 Fashion Week was this hip take on the cat-eye. The elongated line accentuates eyes, making them look feminine and mysterious. Este Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux created this metallic version at Derek Lam by blending out silver and black shadows and topping off with a highlighter.

For reasons we simply cannot fathom, the outlined eye was everywhere this season. The bold line and bare lid look from DKNY reminds us of those paint-by-number pictures--except someone forgot to fill this one in.

We loved the delicate, matte waves backstage at Christian Siriano. Aveda lead stylist Antionette Beenders created what she called the "braid set" on models' hair. First she loosely braided hair into two to three equal braids, then used a flat iron to gently press the braids section by section. Finally she undid the braids, finger-combed hair and spritzed waves with Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray.

We love texture as much as the next girl, but when you look more street urchin than street chic, it's time to put down the texturizing spray. The unfortunate models at Erro look like they're going to need a gallon of conditioner to get rid of those snarls.

Why settle for a plain old French manicure when you can have this decadent version instead? Backstage at Jason Wu, CND Nail Professional Roxanne Valinoti layered Dark Ruby and Bloodline polishes to make a deep burgundy base, then used Gold Chrome on the tips to create a rich, gilded nail we couldn't stop staring at.

As obsessed as we are with the faux-caviar nail at Cushnie et Ochs, we have to admit that it just won't work in real life. Celebrity nail technician Pattie Yankee painted models' nails with Dashing Diva Limo Service, then dipped them in beads, sprinkled with glitter and sprayed with glue. Drool-worthy, yes, but a little too complicated for the average girl.

This romantic look from Behnaz Sarafpour is the perfect example of understated beauty. From the dewy skin and pale blush to the kitten-eye, muted lip and face-framing updo--each subtle element blends seamlessly with the next to create a look that's both powerful and dainty.

Smoky eyes, bold brows, skyscraper curls and random ribbons--did someone design this look at Monique Lhuillier or did they just dump the contents of their purse on top of the model's head? Any one of those elements on their own would have been fine, but put them all together and there is just way too much going on here.

You simply can't go wrong with a bold red lip--it's the ultimate beauty look! To get this striking lip look from Luca Luca, Revlon Global Artistic Direct Gucci Westman outlined models lips with red liner, then blended Super Lustrous Lipstick in Chocoliscious and Matte Lipstick in Really Red to create a moody and mysterious crimson pout.

Visible lip liner never has, and never will be an attractive trend. Read our lips girls: If your liner is darker than your lip color, people will stare at you, and not in a good way. Pick a liner that either matches or blends into your lipstick, otherwise you end up looking cartoon-ish like this poor model at the Threeasfour show.
