Look past the orange eye makeup for just a second (that’s best left on the runway) and check out the hair on this model at Peter Som’s spring 2013 show, which happened this morning in New York. Hair stylist Eugene Souleiman and colorist Aura, both for Wella, collaborated to create a colorful, tousled look that has us smitten.

“I love the fact that you have unnatural color but natural [textured] hair,” Souleiman told us backstage. “It’s about an attitude and a strength.” Stylists used Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz to rough up strands, with Texture Touch at the ends to create separation. “I want it to look almost two days old,” Souleiman explained.

Inspired by “French Impressionist paintings, almost like a Cezanne field of flowers,” Aura’s team hand-painted wefts of hair extensions that were incorporated with models’ own hair for the show. The colorist says the “dull metallic” tones are going to be huge for spring: “It’s going away from the baby pink to a dirty, grungier pastel.”

What do you think of the messy chic, multicolored look?
