We found out a trick we just had to share with you. At the Spring 2013 Mary Katrantzou show in London, Eugene Souleiman for Wella Professionals gave the head an elongated shape. Don’t worry — it was nothing like Marge Simpson or the Coneheads. Instead, the style lifted the face, emphasizing strong bone structure. Souleiman explained that the trick is “to create tension in the hairstyle,” which pulls.

Like some other awesome runway looks, we wouldn’t recommend this exact style for day-to-day wear. But we do love the idea of slimming the face, lifting the cheekbones and drawing attention upward. Just try any tightly slicked back style and it will accentuate the neck, adding the illusion of height. A sleek bun placed high on the crown will get the job done.
