Daily Inspiration: Balenciaga’s Halo Headbands

Now here’s one way to wear a headband that never occurred to us before. At Balenciaga‘s spring/summer 2013 runway show in Paris yesterday, models sported gold metallic headbands — either embellished with silver, twig-like shapes or plain — worn not on top of their heads, but around the back.

The effect was cool and artsy; miles away from the Upper East Side schoolgirl look we typically associate with headbands. We also got a nymph-like vibe from these accessories. Not only did the twig details remind us of fairies, but the ends of the bands, which framed models’ faces, looked like the horns of Pan, the Greek god of nature.

What do you think of Balenciaga’s out of the ordinary headbands?
