It's the age-old battle: blonde vs. brunette. Who has more fun? Which do gentlemen prefer? While we'll never be able to give a definitive answer, we can certainly weigh in on which color looks best on our favorite celebrities. The following starlets have gone back and forth between the two colors, but we're choosing our favorite look for each.

Kim Kardashian
Kim had a brush with blonde years ago when she was first becoming a household name and then again post-pregnancy, but she always goes back to her dark roots.

As much as we loved her blonde ombré, there's no doubt that she looks best as a brunette. And hey, if she ever misses the lighter look, she can always wear a wig

Scarlett Johansson
The actress goes back and forth between blonde and brunette so much, we were truly shocked when she decided to forego the color change completely and get a pixie, instead. Still, the question remains: Does she look better as a blonde or a brunette?

Her light complexion and blue eyes just scream blonde beauty.

Olivia Wilde
Olivia is a true hair chameleon, changing her hair color on the reg. And while she looks gorgeous as both, there can only be one winner...

We much prefer the brunette against her olive skin, but we love it more with golden hues highlighted throughout.

Beyoncé
The singer is rarely seen with the same hairstyle two days in a row, but she's stayed consistent with the blonde color as of late.

Ok, this is technically cheating, but we couldn't help ourselves. Bronde is what flatters Beyoncé most—no question.

Lauren Conrad
The reality star became our hair idol once she ditched the headbands. While she's mostly been blonde over the years, she's also gone to the dark side (and the purple side and the pink side...)

Blonde is the clear winner. She recently went bleach blonde, but we actually like the honey hue better.

Leighton Meester
She may have been introduced to us as a brunette on "Gossip Girl," but Leighton was a blonde long before that.

Is there really any question? Brunette is best for this newlywed, though we have to say it looks most flattering with blonde highlights running through.

Jennifer Lawrence
The actress usually goes dark for her "Hunger Games" role, but this time she opted to wear a wig during production.

Whether it's long or short, we like the actress better as a blonde.

Anne Hathaway
Not only did Anne go blonde for the Met Ball last year, but she flirted with the lighter color for her role in "Brokeback Mountain."

Truth be told, we can't stand Anne as a blonde. May she always be brunette.

Jennifer Aniston
She may have grown up a brunette, but Jen has been a blonde for the better part of her career.

Like you even had to ask.

Sofía Vergara
Surprisingly enough, Sofía is actually a natural blonde, but she wears the darker hair color much more often.

It just goes to prove that sometimes your natural color isn't always the most flattering.

Jessica Alba
The natural brunette went bright blonde for her role in "Fantastic Four."

Yep, it's another bronde winner. Sometimes you just have to split the difference.

Sienna Miller
We first became acquainted with Sienna as a brunette in the movie "Factory Girl," though she's usually spotted with blonde hair.

If we're choosing between blonde and brunette, it has to be blonde, but we're also partial to the rose gold

Kristen Stewart
K.Stew is another natural blonde, though we rarely see her with the lighter color.

Dark hair suits the actress best, and it really brings out her green eyes.

Reese Witherspoon
We always think of Reese as a blonde, but she famously wore the darker color for her role in "Walk the Line."

She really looks amazing in both, but it would be wrong to say the "Legally Blonde" star looked better in anything but blonde.

Jessica Biel
The actress is constantly going from blonde to brunette and every shade in between.

Photo: Getty Images

While we prefer it with a little ombré, we have to say her darker shade is best.

Hilary Duff
The singer has always worn both shades well in the past...

...but we have to give it up to the blonde.

Khloé Kardashian
The reality star has only recently started going lighter and lighter with her blonde color.

Whatever she's doing, she should keep it up, because Khloé has never looked better.

Ashley Greene
The "Twilight" actress regularly switches between the two colors.

The glossy brunette color seems to suit her best.

Jessica Simpson
The singer has been blonde for most of her career, but she switched up the color while famously dating John Mayer

Photo: Getty Images

Though we really like the darker color on her, the blonde is decidedly better.

Elizabeth Olsen
The actress goes back and forth between colors for various movie roles.

Photo: Getty Images

She really looks amazing in both colors, but she matches her famous sisters better as a blonde.

Dakota Fanning
The older Fanning sister went darker once for a movie role.

Photo: Getty Images

We actually don't like the darker color on Dakota, which is pretty harsh against her pale skin

Photo: Getty Images

Ciara
She may have started as a brunette, but Ciara has been blonde for some time now.

Photo: Getty Images

Though she would look good in almost every color, we're kind of obsessed with the blonde.

Photo: Getty Images

Charlize Theron
Charlize is regularly switching from one color to the other.

Photo: Getty Images

The winner is blonde, but only by a hair.

Photo: Getty Images

Britney Spears
Since her Kevin Federline days, Britney has been switching between blonde and brunette.

But because we can't stop associating the dark color with her ex, the winner has to be blonde.
