It’s not just the clothes that are super trendy in New York. You can’t walk down a street in Soho or the Upper West Side without seeing someone drinking a green smoothie that looks a little questionable at first glance. However, I have found that it’s always difficult to get the recommended 4-5 servings of vegetables in one day, so I decided to give this green smoothie a go.
From broccoli to mushrooms and asparagus, I love veggies. But the thought of mashing them into a smoothie in the morning makes me want to vom in my Cheerios. That’s where Dr. Lipman’s Greens ($59, Bewellbydrfranklipman.com), a nutrient rich powder in his Be Well collection comes in.
The powder, which is rich in antioxidants, organic fruit, vegetables and red and blue berries, boosts your immune system, aids digestion, and gives a boost of energy. And because it comes in single serving packets, you can bring it with you on the go. Just add water, and you have another serving of greens.
Because the greens are essentially in the powder, you can add it to any smoothie for additional nutrients. My latest concoction is a mix of plain almond milk, a banana, ice cubes and a packet of the greens. For a thicker texture (and a healthy fat), Dr. Lipman recommends adding a slide of avocado.
