Out of all the red carpet events, we love the Met Gala the most. The pageantry! The gowns! The glamour! The artistry! We wait for it with bated breath every year.

And 2015 did not disappoint. The theme, China: Through the Looking Glass examines the way Chinese history, literature and art have influenced high fashion over the years. And the stars truly came out to celebrate the exhibition’s opening. Let’s take a look at the best of beauty from the 2015 Met Gala!

Here are the best looks from the 2015 Met Gala.

Though it's been confirmed as a wig, Katie Holmes stunned in this short bob with slightly choppy bangs.

Though we're not totally sure about the positioning of Diane Kruger's hair flowers, we LOVE her orange-red lip and subtle cat eye.

Kerry Washington is a glowing radiant angel in pink: pink gown, pink cheeks, delicate pink lips. Adore.

Though it may be a little much (especially with the turquoise eyeshadow), we salute Sarah Jessica Parker for really taking a major risk with her look on the red carpet.

Cher serves her signature look: burgundy eye shadow, glossy nude lips and long, tumbling, wavy black hair. She is truly our Queen.

Jessica Chastain serves pure Old Hollywood realness with her neutral red lips and deep parted, sideswept red hair.

Georgia May Jagger's cascading deep green flowers are definitely the hair accessories of the night. The contrast with her blonde, curled hair is perfection.

Smoky eyes are a red carpet staple, but we delight in seeing them made fresh and new. Keri Russell's blue and slate grey take on the classic smudgy makeup is absolutely perfect, really enhancing both the colour of her eyes and the green of her gown.

If you're going to wear a dress like this, you've got to make sure your skin is flawless. JLo's fearless use of bronzer and highlighter ensures that she shines like the top of the Chrysler building.

Though it could have been an overpowering beauty choice, we love Claire Danes' oxblood lips.

Has anyone ever been as cool as Janelle Monae? Her long braided faux-hawk is killing us with its flawlessness.

We admire Anne Hathaway for her commitment to Star Wars Day. May the Fourth be with you too, shiny gold Jedi.

Paired with a white dress, severe middle part and coppery smoky eyeshadow, Amanda Seyfriend's dark marsala lips are a serious makeup statement that we cannot get enough of.

We admire Lorde's talent and innate elegance: no matter where she goes or what she wears, she always looks so beautifully herself. Her signature long, dark curls paired with a dramatic dark eye and sunny smile makes for a definite red carpet beauty win.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's makeup is very interesting: in some photos, her lip color is a warm, bright red...in others it's a deep, dark oxblood. Regardless of the shade, we love this simple, bronzed look paired with a sleek and elegant chignon.

With an understated cat eye, nude glossy lips and undone updo, Alison Williams is a legit vision.

With simple, center-parted hair and lightly contoured skin, Kendall Jenner keeps it minimal and amazingly beautiful.

Rihanna is flawless. This flippy hairstyle and totally on-trend deep burgundy color has us reaching for the scissors as we speak.

Grace Coddington: beauty, fashion, hair and life icon.

Kate Beckinsale has our dream hair. Lightly highlighted, falling just so in glam curls...it's impossible for us to love her look any more than we do.

Amal Clooney, famous human rights lawyer, takes her date to the Met Ball and outshines the entire world with her amazing hair and perfectly matching red lips.

Cat eyes are one thing; Elizabeth Banks' black and turquoise cat eyes are something else altogether.

Taraji P. Henson is a gorgeous goddess; we are in love with her simple yet elegant sleek hair-pink lipped look.

And just when we despaired of her attending, Our Lady Beyonce showed up and shut the Met Gala down. We LOVE this super-high, curled topknot, nude lips and elongated cat eye...and we especially love the bravery it must have taken to wear a sparkly gown like this!
