Compared to established brands La Mer or Clinique, celebrity beauty products don’t have the best reputation. There’s a certain stigma associated with these lines—that they’re sub-par and only sell because of the famous person lending their name to it—that makes us wonder, in all honesty, if they’ll actually work.

Can Kim Kardashian really come up with a practical solution to frizzy hair? Does Ryan Seacrest have dermatologist-level knowledge about skin care we never learned about on “American Idol”? We may never know—but the truth is that sometimes, these celeb lines contain some serious hidden gems. Some actually have quite a few—and we rounded up the best celebrity beauty products to prove it.

nuance hair

Nuance Salma Hayek Mamey Fruit Texture Enhancing Finishing Spray ($10, cvs.com)

Kudos, Salma. This stuff is game-changing. It’s great for adding lasting volume and perfectly messy texture to freshly curled hair. Best part? It’s so lightweight that you barely feel like you’ve used any product at all.

flower beauty lip chubby

Flower Beauty Lip Chubby ($8, walmart.com)

OK, so this product line created by Drew Barrymore is seriously impressive. While Flower does blush, brows, fragrance, and mascara pretty damn well, nothing outdoes their lip chubbys. These little crayons impart high-impact, extremely long-lasting color in a flattering semi-matte finish.

living proof hairspray

Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray ($24, sephora.com)

It’s the hairspray that will make you love hairspray, and that’s mostly because it doesn’t feel like you’re putting anything on your hair at all. It helps keep your style in place without making your hair feel crunchy or stiff. But then again, it’s not that big of a surprise that Jennifer Aniston would put her name on anything less than hair care greatness. This entire collection is worth the investment.

honest tinted moisturizer

Honest Beauty Beyond Protected Sheer Tint ($28, honestbeauty.com)

Sometimes you don’t want foundation. That’s where this find from Jessica Alba‘s Honest Beauty line comes in. It’s a sheer face tint that ever so slightly evens out your skin tone but its real claim to fame is protection, offering an SPF 30 as well as hyaluronic acid to keep your skin hydrated.

kardashian dry shampoo

Kardashian Beauty Take 2 Dry Shampoo ($15, ulta.com)

We’ve tried quite a few of the Kardashian‘s beauty products, and this dry shampoo is by far our favorite. Our biggest complaint about dry shampoo is that it leaves a chalky finish or it makes our hair feel dirtier than before—but not this stuff. This spray absorbs quickly, brings volume to our limp hair, and feels super light; it’s absolutely perfect.

wander highlighter

Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator ($42, wanderbeauty.com)

Former Victoria’s Secret model Lindsay Ellingson has expanded her collection quite a bit since it first launched with a blush/highligher duo, and while we have a thing for those liquid eyeshadows, the on-the-glow stick is still what we would suggest as you first purchase. It blends so quickly and give your skin a seriously radiant finish.

CIRCA Beauty Color Absolute Velvet Luxe Lipstick ($10, walgreens.com)

Most celebrities ease into the beauty world with just a few products. Eva Mendes? No, she didn’t mess around. She launched an impressively large collection of color cosmetics—foundation, shadow, liner, you name it—but these lipsticks probably top the list. They come in 12 different shades that feel super comfortable on your lips. Rita, a bright orange-red, can’t be missed.
